I used colored pencil as my medium in my two in one drawing and I combined a stop light with a butterfly for the project. First I looked up a picture of a stop light and sketched it in my sketchbook. I then added wings and antennas to the stop light. After I drew a few butterflies I got drawing paper and began to draw the these butterlights on my paper. I did everything in pencil and then went over it in colored pencil and colored everything in how I wanted it to look.
1. Which medium is your favorite and why? (10pts) My favorite medium is the oil pastel because it was the easiest for me to do and it seemed to look the neatest and the most realistic and smooth transitions between the different shades.
2. Which is your least favorite medium and why? (10pts) My least favorite medium is probably the charcoal because of how messy it is and how you can easily mess up your artwork if you accidentally run your hand or anything over it. 1. It was hard to mix the color swatches because I hadn't done anything like that before so I wasn't really sure what colors to mix and how to make the color match really well. I did the pinkish colors and my table partners did the green and orange and I think that the green color would've been the easiest to mix because I've mixed blue and yellow before and made green.
2. To make the color brown you mix two complementary colors and to make it lighter you can add white. 3. I picked a picture that I took of the sun setting on the bay in New Jersey because my family and I go to New Jersey every summer with my moms side of the family and stay in their beach house and it's one of my favorite places to go. Pen Drawing Pencil Drawing Charcoal Drawing Most Helpful Warmup This sphere shadow drawing was the most helpful warmup because it showed me where to place the shadows when light is projected onto an object. It also taught me how to add shadows into a piece of art and make it look normal and not out of place. composition - how the viewers eye flows through the piece of art value - the lightness or darkness of tones or colors Pros & Cons
- Pen Drawing - pro) - it taught me how to be creative using only a few things such as lines and dots; con) it was hard to figure out where my shadows and where my lights needed to be and how to portray those - Pencil Drawing - pro) I was able to make it my own because I had my own point of view of it from my seat that was different from everyone else's; con) It was hard to draw that many objects especially because some of them were ontop of or behind others so it was hard to figure out how to draw some of the objects - Charcoal Drawing - pro) I really liked this drawing and had never used charcoal like this before so I liked the new technique and how I got to also use my shadow warmups to help show the highlights and shadows for this; con) the charcoal easily smeared and whiped away some of my work while I was working on this which got annoying Above show two pieces of Duy Anh Nhan Duc's artwork. What I like most about this artists work is how much detail he puts in. He slowly takes his time to add in the smallest of details into both these pieces. The amount of time which seems to be put into these two drawings in amazing and I believe that's what I liked best about them.
Duy Anh Nhan Duc is a botanical artist meaning he is an artists of the plants which I find interesting because I enjoy drawing outdoor objects such as plants and flowers. I could not find the materials making up the dandelion artwork however the sunflower head is made up of glass beads, pearls, crystal, and metal. He loves to capture the outside world and his surroundings and bring them to life in his pieces. A link to his sight is - http://www.duyanhnhanduc.com/ |
